Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to come forever once I start chiropractic care?

A: No. My goal is to help you get where you want to be and give you the tools to stay there. How long that takes depends on what's going on, how your body responds, and what you're trying to achieve. Some people come in for a specific issue, work through it, and move on. Others find value in periodic check-ins, especially if they're active or managing a recurring pattern. That's a choice you make based on your experience, not a requirement built into the process.

Q: What kinds of conditions do you treat?

A: I work with a wide range of musculoskeletal issues, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, and joint problems in the spine, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. I also have specialized training in pregnancy and postpartum care, athletic injury recovery, and rehabilitation. If you're not sure whether what you're dealing with is something I can help with, reach out. I'm happy to talk it through before you book an appointment.

Q: What's the most common cause of neck and back pain?

A: Usually it's a combination of things rather than one single cause. Restricted joints, overworked muscles, and areas of weakness often show up together. For example, low back pain frequently involves joints and muscles that are too stiff in some places and not strong enough in others. That imbalance puts strain on the areas that have to compensate. Understanding that pattern is where we start.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: I do not file insurance claims directly, but I provide all the documentation you need to submit a claim to your insurance provider on your own. Many patients are able to get full or partial reimbursement this way. If you have questions about what your plan may cover, I'd recommend calling your provider before your first visit.

Q: What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first visit is longer than a follow-up because we spend time talking. I want to hear what's been going on in your own words before I assess anything. From there I'll do a physical evaluation that looks at how you move, how your joints and tissues are functioning, and what patterns might be contributing to the issue. I'll share what I find in plain language and we'll talk through what a care plan could look like. If it feels appropriate, I may begin treatment at that first visit.

Q: Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes, when performed by someone with the right training. I have specialized experience working with pregnant patients and use techniques that are specifically appropriate for each stage of pregnancy. Many women find that regular care during pregnancy helps with back pain, pelvic discomfort, and general comfort as their body adapts to the changes happening week to week.

Q: How is your approach different from a typical chiropractic visit?

I look at more than the area that hurts. My approach involves understanding the full picture of how your body moves, where it's adapted or compensated, and what's changed over time. I explain what I find in a way that makes sense, so you understand the why behind what we're doing. Treatment is tailored to your situation, not a preset protocol.

Q: Do adjustments hurt?

Most people feel relief rather than discomfort. Some experience mild soreness after a first visit, similar to how you might feel after a workout or a deep tissue massage. That typically passes within a day or two. If you're nervous about the cracking sound or a specific technique, just tell me. There are multiple ways to work with the spine and joints, and we can find an approach that feels right for you.
